Volunteers are expected to get themselves to San Andrés Itzapa by their own means, and have basic Spanish comprehension. In addition, volunteers should have one or more of these skills:

• Bicycle repair
• Welding and power tool use
• Technical Illustration
• Fluent Spanish speaking/writing
• Familiarity with desktop publishing/web design
• Social Work
• Permaculture farming, organic agriculture knowledge

Volunteers should also have these general qualifications:

• Ability to work and live in a team under stressful, extreme conditions, with minimal resources
• Healthy constitution
• Sense of humour
• Desire to learn
